The Transcend 98 is one of the most interesting new skis in Kästle’s 2026/27 lineup. It takes the precision and composure we expect from Kästle and puts it into a much more playful, modern shape. At 98mm underfoot, it lands in that sweet spot where one ski can handle a surprising amount of the mountain without feeling overbuilt for everyday conditions. Kästle positions it as the versatile, all-mountain member of the new Transcend family.

The construction tells a lot of the story. Kästle’s new Twin Core blends poplar and beech, while Powerzone Titanal places metal through the middle of the ski rather than running it tip to tail. That gives the Transcend stability and edge confidence where you need it, but allows the rockered tip and tail to stay loose enough to pivot, smear, and play. Hollowtech 2.0 reduces swing weight and vibration, while the Hook Free tip and tail help keep the ski from feeling grabby when you want to release the turn.

What we like most is the balance. The Transcend 98 is noticeably more playful than the Kästles many skiers know, but it has not abandoned the brand’s ability to hold an edge and stay composed when you start moving. It is quick enough for bumps and tighter terrain, loose enough for soft snow, and still happy making a clean turn back to the lift. Independent testing has also highlighted that mix of maneuverability, stability, and soft-snow playfulness.

Why We Like It

  • 98mm waist hits a very useful all-mountain sweet spot
  • New for 2026/27 and represents a more playful direction for Kästle
  • Twin Core combines poplar and beech for energy with a smoother feel
  • Powerzone Titanal adds stability and grip underfoot without making the entire ski feel locked down
  • Twin Rocker makes it easy to pivot, smear, and adapt when conditions get soft or technical
  • Hollowtech 2.0 helps reduce swing weight and vibration
  • Hook Free tip and tail keep turn entry and release predictable
  • Still has enough Kästle precision to feel confident on groomers and firmer snow
  • A strong one-ski choice for advanced skiers who want versatility with a more creative personality
